| Synopsis:
Bella Swan has always been a little bit different. Never one to run with the crowd, Bella never cared about fitting in with the trendy, plastic girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother remarried and Bella chooses to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she didn't expect much of anything to change. But things do change when she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen. For Edward is nothing like any boy she's ever met. He's nothing like anyone she's ever met, period. He's intelligent and witty, and he seems to see straight into her soul. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance - unorthodox because Edward really isn't like the other boys. He can run faster than a mountain lion. He can stop a moving car with his bare hands. Oh, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he's immortal. That's right - vampire. But he doesn't have fangs - that's just in the movies. And he doesn't drink human blood, though Edward and his family are unique among vampires in that lifestyle choice. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. Somehow or other, they will have to manage their unmanageable love. But when unexpected visitors come to town and realize that there is a human among them Edward must fight to save Bella? A modern, visual, and visceral Romeo and Juliet story of the ultimate forbidden love affair - between vampire and mortal. |

Twilight July 28, 2010 Dawn Sharif-Coon I haven't viewed this dvd yet, but I've never had a problem with any dvds I've purchased, so I assume it is very good. Received it timely.
I can understand the adolescent frenzy about this series... July 24, 2010 T. A. Hopkins (Evansville, Indiana United States) This movie series was so hyped that I scoffed about it at first. I loved the plot idea, and the instant frenzy it created not only among teens finally piqued my interest, as I am a sucker for anything having anything to do with vampires, werewolves, and James Dean. I'd heard the movie did not do the book enough credit and wanted to see for myself.
I cannot explain what it is about the whole Twilight thing, except to say that now I understand how it can draw you in and take hold. I'd roll my eyes about all the Rob Pattinson hype, but then when I saw his portrayal of Edward, all I could say was, "Beautiful..." I do see a little James Dean in his character, which I feel added to the appeal and how I would envision his character to be. I thought the casting was pretty good, and although I think Kristen Stewart is a lovely, talented actress, and probably a kick to hang with, I honestly felt that her portrayal of Bella did not come off with the depth and emotion that I expected. Often, I found myself really wondering what Edward saw in her, because it wasn't believable. Still, the two seemed to have genuine chemistry, and I so wanted them to be together. Still, though the dialogue filled in some gaps for me, I felt there wasn't enough of it, and it felt a little flat in that respect. Often, I thought Bella's father Charlie and his scenes stole the show.
We joked that most teenage girls just pine for one special guy, and this one has a vampire AND a werewolf fighting over her! Oh, the drama! Oh, the teen angst! It's been many moons since I was their age, but I have not forgotten the feelings of first love and raging hormones, and that worse than torturous death feeling when that first love has been severed. There were many parts in scenes that effectively brought back those familiar feelings and made me care about the characters. I applaud the director's ability to show the emotion, sensuality, and sexual tension without ever crossing the line. I felt the "holding back" of it actually added to it, since these days, sex is so pushed in our faces and gratuitously overdone. I felt the reviews of the director and the effects were a little harsh. I liked the way it was put together, and the sort of sci-fi effects gave good visual description of the special gifts the vampires had. I also thought the music was pretty good for the movie, and loved Radiohead's "15 Steps" playing as the cast was credited at the end.
Cynic that I am, I found myself watching this over and over. I now understand why teens and young adults are so crazy about the Twilight saga. I see no reason to deter them from the enjoyment of the experience. I am motivated to go read the books.
The Book Is Much Better July 23, 2010 Yv Sol This movie is fine but the book is outstanding. If you like the movie you will love the book.
I loved all of the books and all the movies so far July 23, 2010 Diane (Phoenix, Arizona United States) I really loved this I read all the books and watched both dvd's on the movied. Awesome. Leaves you wanting more. So you go on to the next book and movie and enjoy it. It is a series that I wish would never end. I would love to have a book written about Alice and Jaspers story. Starting with Alice and then adding Jasper. Then watch a movie about Alice's life. I would like to have each character's story written about the movie made afterward. I need more to read and I have been looking for something new to start reading.
Extremely Over-Rated, But Still A Decent Movie. July 23, 2010 Pete Cortez (CALIFORNIA) Everybody Keeps Talking About Twilight, So I Watched This To See What All The Hype Is About, Yes This Movie Is Not As Great As A Thought It Would Be, But It's Decent, I'll Watch New Moon And Give It A Chance,But If It's The Same Or (god forbid) Worse Then The First One, I Probably Won't Watch Eclipse. Story: 8/10. Acting: 9/10.
