Amazon.com Life is a complicated journey in which right and wrong are sometimes indistinct and where the things that really matter are often unclear. Bella is a powerful, leisurely-paced film in which Jose (Eduardo Verastegui) and Nina (Tammy Blanchard) struggle to do what's right while seeking meaning in their lives. A quiet, brooding man with a dark past, Jose works as a chef in his brother Manny's (Manny Perez) restaurant where he mostly keeps to himself until young waitress Nina is fired. Touched by Manny's unfair treatment of Nina, Jose impulsively leaves work to follow Nina and spends a day with her where he discovers that she is pregnant and alone. The two become incredibly close in the space of a day, sharing their pasts, feelings, and fears, and a lasting friendship is born. As Nina struggles with her pregnancy options and Jose comes to terms with a horrific incident from his past, the pair's newfound friendship aids in growth and healing. In the end, Jose and Nina's lives become permanently intertwined in a most beautiful and unexpected way. Bella is a moving, introspective film that will inspire serious personal reflection. --Tami Horiuchi

Bella September 5, 2010 Shandra Shaw I really enjoyed this DVD and the storyline really did make you think about what is really important in life and that everything comes full circle and no matter what life throws us, as long as we cling to what is right and follow through with it, things do work out for the best way and the best way really does end up being what is best for all of us~
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME August 17, 2010 lr 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This film is poorly made: cliche symbolism, bad acting, and just plain dumb dialogue. But what is worse is that the way the film is packaged is incredibly misleading. Make no mistake--the producers and lead actor have a pro-life mission (this is easily confirmed by interviews and articles available online) and this movie is nothing but propaganda in service of that mission. The film's description tells nothing about this. You're welcome to your own opinion, but don't hide it in the guise of some artsy movie! It's an insult to viewers. I would suggest NOT wasting 2 hours of your life on this mediocre, manipulative garbage.
Bella August 15, 2010 Ann Marie I recently purchased several DVD's of the movie Bella. It is an excellent movie with a wonderful message. It gives an alternative choice for a young woman who finds herself pregnant with no means of support for herself or her just conceived baby. An excellent movie and one which I hope to give out at Abortion facilities.
Bella is a winner. August 3, 2010 Brent Hilton (Layton, Utah USA) Just watched this movie and loved it. Did'nt know what to think when i saw it, but bella won me over with it's great screenwriting and cast. such a heartfelt story with two people, that have different issues they're dealing with, when they meet up and how they help each other find the answers. This film is a for sure buy or rent, it's good from beginning to end.
It's PG-13 For some Disturbing images.
Highly Recommended Film.
Fine Fabric, Missing Stitches July 28, 2010 Steve V (Norman, Oklahoma) The flaws in "Bella" are largely covered by fine acting and a splendid story of mercy, kindness, and trust.
During most of the movie, we live through one day with José and Nina. (Keep this in mind as you watch.) The day is interrupted by flashes or scenes of memory and imagination. This piecemeal presentation is hard to follow at first, but very rewarding. We stay in step with José and Nina as their story unfolds.
There is a moment late in the movie when José says, "I'll call you....I'll call you, OK?" Don't let that slip by unnoticed, as I first did.
You will notice some idealizing, and the careful choice and balance of characters. You may well ponder the message of the homeless man, that delightful sidewalk seer. When it comes to design, "Bella" is more like a sonnet than a news report.
Then, the emotional intensity. Tears flow. Overdone? Maybe, but we can hardly expect English reserve in a Latino-themed film. The music contributes appropriately, sometimes very gently, to the emotional tone.
Some defects we'll just have to forgive: loose threads, imperfect seams. Bear in mind, however, that part of the fun is in what they don't show us.
"Bella" offers beauty, up-close local flavor, and a story well told. There are lots of good reasons to enjoy this film. But for me, the thing that makes "Bella" stand out is a rare vision of trustworthy love. Like a mountaintop view that calls you to a far country. Well done! And, thanks be to God.
